DEVELOPING… reversing more than 50 years of environmental law, the Trump administration has just gutted the Endangered Species Act, opening up the habitats of protected species to logging, oil drilling, and other development.
Under the new rule, destroying an endangered species’ habitat will no longer be considered illegal.
An oil company could even rip apart the nest of an endangered bird so long as they don’t “directly” injure or kill listed wildlife.

In just the past month, Trump has launched into a series of attacks on bedrock environmental protections:
- He’s once again trying to gut protections for more than 90% of Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments.
- He handed over more than 70,000 acres in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas companies.
- He’s gutted the National Park Service, the National Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management.

It doesn’t have to be this way. Every developer that tries to build on the land of endangered animals needs to feel grassroots pressure. Every lawmaker that supports these moves needs to be flooded with letters and calls from their constituents.
But that only happens when the environmental movement stands together. Your support goes directly to organizing communities threatened by Trump’s attacks, mobilizing as many voters as possible, and ensuring elected officials hear from people who believe animals are worth saving and that public lands should remain in public hands.
