This year’s clinics expanded beyond Angel Stadium to include additional sites in Redlands and Santa Ana, bringing the game to even more youth throughout the Inland Empire and Orange County. Angels players Reid Detmers and Wade Meckler also stopped by to welcome the kids and encouraged them to keep working hard and having fun. Each student was selected as their school’s AVID Standout in recognition of their merit, leadership, and academic excellence. During the ceremony at Angel Stadium, surrounded by proud family, friends, and educators, the AVID Standout students received a medal, certificate, and on-field recognition. The Angels Baseball Foundation also gifted each student a laptop and awarded eight students a $10,000 Angels 8th Grade AVID Scholarship, with funds placed in a trust until they enroll in a four-year college or university. As part of the day’s on‑field recognition, Sam Cunningham, a member of the ALS community, threw out the ceremonial first pitch, with the ball caught by Angels catcher Logan O’Hoppe, the club’s nominee for the 2026 Lou Gehrig Memorial Award. On June 10th, the Angels proudly recognized 2026 Green Hero, Moises Plascencia, for his outstanding commitment to sustainability and environmental leadership within his school and community. Through his leadership, he is playing a key role in advancing nutrition education and environmental stewardship across the district. During the Haskett Branch visit, Angels infielder Nick Madrigal joined Angels radio personality Trent Rush to read children’s books, hand out prizes, and answer questions about life in Major League Baseball. At the Canyon Hills Branch, Angels pitcher Brent Suter, who read from his own children’s book The Binky Bandit, alongside Trent Rush, led an engaging reading session, connecting with fans through stories and conversation. The Closing Ceremony brought athletes together for a fun and competitive day featuring MLB’s Pitch, Hit & Run skill challenges and team recognition. The following day, players and coaches were welcomed to Angel Stadium for Little League Day, highlighted by a special pregame parade around the warning track. The on‑field celebration provided a memorable Major League experience while recognizing the commitment and achievements of all participants. |  | |  | | | Angels Softball Academy, presented by Nike | | Angels Baseball hosted softball athletes at Angel Stadium for the Angels Softball Academy, presented by Nike. The two-part event provided an opportunity for girls ages 12 to 17 to participate in an on-field clinic featuring instruction from college softball players, coaches, and Angels staff clinicians. In partnership with Who We Play For, participants also had access to optional heart health screenings, helping raise awareness and providing early detection of potential cardiac conditions in young athletes. Following the on-field clinic, athletes and their families were invited to the Angels Rose Garden for a lunch and panel discussion, where they gained insight into college softball, career pathways, and opportunities beyond the game. |  | |  | | | RAD Camp Angels Clinic | | On June 19th, the Angels Baseball Foundation partnered with Rising Above Disabilities (RAD) Camp, a nonprofit organization that provides summer camp experiences for individuals with developmental disabilities ages 5 to 21. The program focuses on building confidence, independence, and social connection through inclusive activities, team-based programming, and supportive mentorship. As part of the camp experience, the Angels hosted a baseball clinic for approximately 100 campers, offering instruction on the fundamentals of the game. Participants had the opportunity to learn hitting, throwing, and fielding skills in a fun and supportive environment designed for adaptive athletes and youth of all abilities. | | |
