Dear Friend,
Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day: a special day to honor Dr. King’s legacy and remember his unwavering commitment to compassion and social justice.
To carry on his spirit of service, we invite you to make a difference by volunteering at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. Together, we can help ensure that our community members have access to the food they need to thrive.
Every day, our volunteers make a life-changing contribution by ensuring nutritious food reaches our friends and neighbors experiencing hunger. Did you know that a single person will sort and pack enough food in a volunteer shift to fuel more than 160 meals for local families?
One out of every seven of our neighbors are facing food insecurity across our 34-county service area — and with the high cost of living and changes to SNAP benefits, more children, families, and seniors are facing food insecurity than ever before.
On this day of remembering Martin Luther King Jr., consider giving back to our community in his memory by becoming a volunteer at the Food Bank. You’ll be so glad you did!
