Kids are hard on clothes — but with a little care, their favorite pieces can last through play, growth spurts, and multiple families.
Here are three simple ways to help kids’ clothes last longer, look better, and stay in great condition over time.
1. Wash gently (less is more)
Overwashing and harsh cycles wear clothes out faster than kids do.
Wash on cold when possible, use gentle cycles for everyday wear, and skip fabric softener — it breaks down fibers over time.
And most importantly, skip the dryer as much as possible. Here's how: Breaking Up With Your Dryer
2. Repair small issues early
A loose seam or tiny hole is easy to fix — until it isn’t.
Simple repairs help clothes stay wearable longer, look better between siblings, and be ready for their next life.

3. Store clothes like you want them back
Between wears (or between kids), storage matters.
Fold knits instead of hanging, put up hooks for clothes that have been worn but don't yet need to be washed, and avoid airtight plastic for long-term storage. Good storage keeps clothes fresh, wearable, and ready for whatever comes next.
Well-cared-for kids’ clothes last longer, stay comfortable, and are more likely to be eligible for full TradeUP credit (instead of recycling credit) when you’re done with them.
Care is part of the circular journey — and it’s one of the easiest ways to get more value out of every piece.
With you for the long haul,
