Students across COMM107’s 99 sections this spring each selected a social impact organization to highlight in a call-to-action speech, persuading their classmates to support it. Now, as Terps complete their presentations, they’ll vote on the most convincing proposals, with each section’s winning organization receiving a $150 Do Good grant.
More than 500 University of Maryland students have studied in locations around the world through the U.S. Department of State’s highly competitive Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, ranking UMD No. 9 nationally among large institutions for total scholars supported since its 2001 founding.
Fifteen new courses in architecture, education, English, public policy and more that will prepare UMD students to lead in a society increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence were awarded $230,000 from the Artificial Intelligence Interdisciplinary Institute at Maryland (AIM) 2026-27 course development grant program.
