At a new garden at University Park Elementary School, students will learn the basics of plant science, gain insight into the role of pollinators, get physical activity, do good in their community by donating to food banks and develop a relationship with the natural world, thanks to support from UMD.
The new Financial Wellness Hub, located on the first floor of McKeldin Library, will reach students across campus with resources on budgeting, investing and financial planning through peer mentoring, classes and events.
Every Friday morning, undergraduate students learn how to perform chemistry demonstrations that foam, glow, fizz and erupt. Late in the semester, the students take what they learned into local elementary school classrooms, sharing the magic with wide-eyed third graders.
