This summer, UMD alums are releasing books across genres and themes: A twisty crime story, a Cold War-set romantic comedy, a memoir of young adult embarrassments and a psychological thriller are among the Terp-penned books that might entice your literary fancy this season.
On Thursday, UMD announced the launch of 11 high-impact research projects representing more than 40 disciplines across campus, funded by nearly $15 million over three years through the Grand Challenges Grants Program.
The revolution was never just between Redcoats and rebels; it was a world war in all but name, UMD history Professor Richard Bell argues in his newest book, “The American Revolution and the Fate of the World.”
Associate Professor Ariel Bierbaum’s new book, “Schools for Sale: Disinvestment, Dispossession, and School Building Reuse in Philadelphia,” examines the social, environmental and political costs of school closures and different kinds of reuses, using one city as a case study.
