Masters In Marketing

Being able to query your data with natural language is long overdue. You shouldn’t have to get a master’s degree in your software just to be able to use it.

But being able to do stuff with your data using natural language cues? That’s some seriously Star Trek ish.

So when OpenAI announced a deep research connector with HubSpot (shameless plug), I thought it was a good excuse to share some cool prompts written by our SVP of Product that turn your real data into action items… and then actually do them.

In today's email:

  • 9 deep research prompts to turn your marketing data into action

  • Why you should never buy Insta followers

  • How to use KPI dashboards for marketing

This week, Karen Ng, our SVP of Product, and the fine folks in our smart CRM team shared with me 9 deep-research prompts to use your own data in campaign actions.

Karen Ng, HubSpot's SVP of Product

These deep research prompts are designed to use your own data to create and execute real marketing campaign activities. Though they were made with the HubSpot connector in mind, you can still use ā€˜em on your own with your favorite tools. (Store-bought is fine, right?)

1. Identify the personas that converted fastest from lead to customer in the last 90 days. Recommend key attributes to target in future campaigns, then use the insights to build a lookalike audience.

2. Find companies where marketing emails were opened more than 5 times by associated contacts but have no contact owner assigned. Recommend warm outreach messaging, then assign owners and trigger a welcome sequence.

3. Create a Lifecycle nurture series. When a new persona is detected on a deal, draft a five-email drip and personalize metrics pulled from that very deal.

4. Segment contacts by source (e.g., webinar, content download, paid social). Compare conversion rates to customer and identify the best-performing cohort, then scale high-performing sources through nurture workflows.

5. Find companies with high contact email engagement (e.g., open or click activity) but no associated open deals. Recommend a warm-up content strategy, then launch a content series or webinar invite campaign.

6. Compare lifecycle stage transitions across all contacts from Q1 and Q2. Identify the stages with the biggest drop-offs and suggest interventions, then refine lead scoring and automation triggers.

7. Segment top-performing campaigns by industry based on contact activity. Identify industries with the highest engagement, then use the findings for persona targeting and campaign segmentation.

8. Find the highest-converting persona among recent contacts and generate a tailored three-email nurture sequence to boost engagement, then send the sequence to accelerate conversions.

9. Segment contacts created in the past 90 days by persona. Identify the persona with the highest conversion to ā€œCustomerā€ and draft a targeted nurture sequence, then launch it to improve funnel performance.
