Oh, hey! You got invited to the marketing team holiday party! The snow is gently falling and attendance exceeds projections at the HR-approved mandatory fun.

A snowflake-shaped cookie staining the napkin in your hand, you pass a suspiciously strong punchbowl labeled “Brand Ambassadors Only.”

Fill in the word bank below, then use those words to complete the red blanks to find out what the rest of your team is up to!

You can also download a PDF of the game to spread the joy. Completely free, no email required.

|   Holiday Marketing Party

  • The Content team is crowded around the photo booth, wearing matching holiday clothing item, plural and trying to get “authentic” candid shots. You overhear someone declare, “We need one horizontal for the blog hero image!”

  • The SEO team has self-isolated in a corner, getting turnt on a mixed drink they’re ominously calling the “traffic spike.” If rival department knocks over another cup, keywords won’t be the only thing getting cannibalized.

  • The Social Media team is livestreaming the chaos in the name of “disruption.” The hashtags are only outnumbered by the empty shot glasses piling up. Their contribution to the Secret Santa pile looks suspiciously like something an influencer might use.

  • Email marketing is busy trying to figure out the open rate of the paper invites. They’re now arguing over which emoji conveys unspecified holiday joy best: the emoji 1 or the emoji 2.

  • Paid Ads has taken over the karaoke booth. Someone shouts, “We’ll boost this post later!” on the first notes of Don’t Stop Believin’. You might just join if someone plays your favorite holiday song.

  • Product Marketing has already held three mini focus groups on the core value prop of holiday snack item. They’ve hung the party banner with a laser level.

  • Your lone data analyst has refused Secret Santa on the grounds that “randomization bias invalidates the results.”

  • The PR team greets you with, “Oh my gosh! It’s been for-ever!” You only met them once. On a Zoom call. In 2022. They’re now “networking” with a coat rack they mistook for a co-worker’s name.

  • Graphic design has turned the office whiteboard into a minimalist holiday mural of a holiday-related location that matches the brand palette. Someone is deeply, deeply angry there’s no dry-erase marker in #DB5079.

  • Your CMO is making a passionate speech that no one can hear, because the mic isn’t working. Everyone’s clapping anyway.

  • Nobody knows who invited the Sales team, but they’re here, and they brought a bottle of beverage type or brand and louder-than-necessary voices.

  • People Ops declares, “We should do this every quarter! Our eNPS is through the roof!” They just want an excuse to expense a(n) something luxurious.

As the night winds down, leadership is thrilled to announce a 66% success rate on holiday cheer! (Legal will follow up about the remaining 34%.)

Please submit all expense receipts by January 5.

Happy holidays from Laura, Curt, and Caroline!
