July calls to mind “independence,” and just how important freedom can be. Growing older shouldn't mean having to choose between staying in the home you love and getting the support needed to stay healthy. Yet today, millions of older Americans are facing hunger and isolation, and too many are waiting months, or even years, for Meals on Wheels services because local providers don't have the resources to meet the growing need.
This summer, supporters across the country are coming together to urge Congress to strengthen federal funding for Meals on Wheels, helping ensure older adults can receive the nutritious meals, safety checks and human connection that make independent living possible. Together, we're working to End the Wait so all the older Americans we love — every MeMaw, Pop-Pop, Auntie, Unc and aging neighbor — can age with dignity in the place they call home. |
