Girls collect contaminated water from a hand-dug pit near Kwenje Village, Zambia.

Dear Andy,

Before learning about letters and numbers, young girls in parts of Africa must first learn how to collect and carry water from distant sources.

It’s a backbreaking daily chore that controls their lives, exposes them to deadly illnesses and animal attacks, and forces them to miss school.

This Lent and Easter season, we can stand with the Church in Africa to change this reality.

In 2025, the generosity of U.S. Catholics helped build 174 water systems and supply clean water to 240,039 people. With your support this year, local Catholic leaders will build 197 water and sanitation systems, blessing nearly 600,000 people in Ghana, Kenya, Malawi and Zambia by providing them with clean water.

A gift of $49 will provide a lifetime of safe water for a family of four. Please, join Cross Catholic Outreach to pray, fast, and change a life.
