Dear Andy,

In some African countries, clean water is not always available. Many children, like Anna, a fictional African girl featured in our free Lent Activity Guide, spend a lot of time looking for and collecting water that may not be safe to drink.

As you follow Anna’s story, you will read about hand-pump wells and how they help bring clean water to African countries.

Hand-pump wells require a little more work than turning on a water tap. One of the crafts in the Lent Activity Guide teaches you how to build your own water pump. This is a fun hands-on activity your family can do together to learn how hand-pumps work.
