We’ve gotta talk mascots today. We all know PK, right? The lovable Loon whose only potentially off-putting attribute is his red eyes, but honestly, you get used to that. Now, look up Sammy the Sounder. Sure, he’s rather jolly-looking, but he’s a dang orca, the most diabolical creature to ever roam the seven seas. They’re known to smack fellow marine animals into the air with their tails, just for the heck of it. They ram and sink boats from time to time, hunt in packs, and have no natural predators. I don’t know
about you, but the little context I have on orcas makes Sammy’s little grin far more sinister than inviting — and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
The takeaway: PK is a better mascot, and Sammy should be avoided at all costs. Now that we’ve got that clear, let’s set up the match.
Your Loons are set to complete their PNW road trip this weekend, with a huge matchup against the Seattle Sounders next up on the docket. The hosts are currently in fourth place, just a single point behind the Loons, and making quick work of the conference as they hurtle towards the top of the table. It’s been a struggle to find success in Seattle in the past, but with an international window on the horizon and some superb defensive form leading them into this one, the Loons just need to light a fire up front to get
the result they want out of this one.
This weekend’s match will be easier to watch than ever, with streaming available to all Apple TV+ subscribers, with or without an MLS Season Pass subscription. DIRECTV and Xfinity customers can also watch the game for free this week, with kickoff slated for 5:00 p.m. CT. Get ready for another showdown in the Cascades, this time in primetime. |
