Just like that, it’s over. The 2025 MLS season has come and gone here in Minnesota, and what a season it was. The numbers alone tell the story: most points in a single season (58), most regular-season wins in a single season (16), best regular-season goal difference in club history (+17), and the list goes on. The Boys in Black and Blue put together one of the league’s most effective play styles, scoring their goals from set pieces (22) and counterattacks while setting up one of the most stubborn defenses in the
entire league. It was a season where performance and growth intertwined, and it signaled a significant step forward in the development of the club.
From
Wil Trapp’s fourth-best goal of all time to Nectarios Triantis’ incredible debut goal in San Diego, we were treated to some truly special moments this year, bringing those standout stats to life and giving us plenty to cheer for. The boys returned to the Western Conference Semi-Finals,
Darius Randell became the youngest goal scorer in club history, and Anthony Markanich set a new standard for scoring as a defender. I could go on and on, but that’s what I wrote a season recap for.
While all the accomplishments this season were great and all, the Black and Blue are still hungry for more. The Loons got close to lifting several trophies, and though they set some new personal bests, they ended the year empty-handed. And, as my mother always said, close only counts in horseshoes.
But what a foundation we’ve built.
In many ways, this was the club’s most successful year since joining MLS.
But the best is yet to come.
Thanks for all of your support this year, you Loons. We’ll see you in 2026.
