More than Déjà Vu

The stars are aligning, my friends; the cycle is beginning to repeat. We may not be halfway through the year just yet, but as syzygy would have it, your Loons are gearing up for their first reverse fixture of 2026, with a season-opener rematch against Austin FC coming up this Sunday. 

Both clubs have played quite a bit of soccer since that 2-2 draw back on February 21, with your Loons earning the better of the results since then. Lately, though, El Tree has discovered some promising form, stringing together a pair of 2-0 victories to pull themselves from the bottom of the Western Conference standings and right back into the mix. For Nico Estévez’s men, a win this weekend would be a massive boost. 

But that’s not really in the plan. 

The Black and Blue have been steadily moving their way up the table, with just one loss in their last seven league games. Four away wins in 2026 have seen them keep their status as road warriors, and their stellar defensive record at home has made Allianz Field one of the most difficult places for other teams to play (just one goal allowed in four games). Put simply, your Loons are flying high — far higher than even the tallest (el) treetop.
