Montana Fire Pits exists to bring people together around tradition and story, building relationships around firelight.
In 2014 Polly Wiessner published an article in one of the most rigorous scientific journals in academia.* She'd spent forty years living among the Ju/'hoansi Bushmen of southern Africa. The article compared what people talked about in the daylight versus around a fire at night.
Daytime was mostly practical. Who was hunting, who was frustrated with whom, about a third of it economic and another third gossip. But once the sun went down and people gathered around the fire, eighty-one percent of what they shared was stories. Old grudges softened. Cultural knowledge got passed down. Fire didn't just extend the day. It created a different kind of time.
This is what we're about at Montana Fire Pits. We're creating a different kind of time for you and your friends and family.
