Thanksgiving No-Nos
A few common holiday dishes are best kept off your pet’s plate:
Anything with onions — keep an eye on the stuffing & green bean casserole.
Cooked bones — they can splinter and cause serious harm.
Highly sweetened foods — especially those containing xylitol.
High-carb dishes — our carnivores just don’t need them.
Chocolate, grapes, raisins, & macadamia nuts — all toxic.
High-fat foods like gravy can trigger digestive upset or pancreatitis, especially when combined with high-carb foods.
Heavily seasoned dishes — herbs & spices can be rough on sensitive stomachs.
Coffee, caffeinated drinks, & alcohol — keep out of reach.
Safe & Tasty Sharables
Good news—there are yummy things your pet can enjoy safely:
Cooked turkey meat (no skin, no bones)
Small amounts of ham (lean pieces only)
Raw turkey giblets — if your bird came with liver, heart, neck, or gizzards, your carnivore will love them!
Small amounts of roasted veggies — like green beans, carrots, or squash
A tiny nibble of plain mashed potatoes — if you kept them simple
And the easiest option is to keep their favorite treats handy so guests can offer something pet-friendly without digging into the human dishes.
Wishing you & yours a happy, healthy, and safe Thanksgiving!
