Breaking Amnesty Report Released Today: Exposing Ethnic Cleansing And Human Rights Violations By Israel In The West Bank >>

‘The Erasure Of Anything Palestinian’: Israel’s Ethnic Cleansing Of Palestinian Bedouin And Herding Communities exposes how Israeli authorities have accelerated a state-sponsored program of ethnic cleansing in the occupied West Bank, uprooting, dispossessing, and forcibly transferring Palestinian communities.

Over 26 months, Amnesty crisis investigators conducted extensive research to bring these atrocities to light, collecting evidence through field research, interviews, and policy analysis.

We’ve concluded that Israel has committed serious violations of international human rights and humanitarian law, including the war crime of unlawful transfer and the crime against humanity of forcible transfer.

Now, we’re amping up the pressure on world leaders to respond.

The severity of violations and cruelty exposed in Amnesty’s report is deeply upsetting. I was particularly struck by the individual stories of Palestinians so directly impacted by both the Israeli military’s crimes as well as settler violence perpetuated through Israel’s system of apartheid.

One Palestinian woman who was forcibly displaced shared with us this harrowing account:

For this report, our researchers interviewed 83 people, hearing accounts like the one above, in addition to reviewing government documents, court decisions, maps, satellite imagery, UN and civil society reports, and verifying more than 420 videos and images. This work is crucial to exposing human rights violations and demanding justice and accountability. This is why our work and your support matter so much.

As you look at the report, here are three key findings that I want to highlight:

• Israeli authorities and forces have condoned, failed to prevent, facilitated, and directly participated in settler violence against Palestinians for decades — this support has reached new levels under the current government.

• The implementation of this horrific policy has included the deliberate destruction of the livelihoods of Palestinians in the West Bank — including the deliberate destruction of their farmland and livestock as well as water tanks and electricity lines in order to force Palestinians to leave their land.

• The governments of most countries, like the U.S., have failed to take any action towards ending support for Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian territory.

I’ll say this, Andy, we’ve never accepted the idea that it’s business as usual when atrocities like ethnic cleansing and genocide are being committed.

With these findings, we’re amplifying our campaign to end Israel’s genocide in Gaza and to end Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian territory. That includes our relentless advocacy for U.S. and global leaders to impose an arms embargo on Israel and hold the Israeli authorities responsible to account.
