Jon Krakauer on climbing Mt. Everest: 'I wish I'd never gone'

It will soon be 30 years since a squall swept across the upper reaches of Everest, killing eight climbers in what was then one of the deadliest mountaineering disastersof all time. 

 Writer Jon Krakauer was there, and the book he wrote about it, Into Thin Air, became a best-seller. National Geographic caught up with him to talk at length about that dark and stormy night and the after-effects that are still haunting him today.
