Thanks to the generosity of this community, we’re able to expand our life-saving programs to protect more children from gun violence in 2026.
December marked 13 years since my beautiful butterfly Dylan was murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary. I still desperately miss my baby boy – his infectious laugh and deep, deep hugs. No amount of time makes life without him any easier.
But with your help, Dylan’s legacy lives on – and we’re saving precious lives in his honor.
Since 2014, more than 44 million students and educators have participated in our proven Know the Signs programs to learn the tangible ways to prevent gun violence and keep their schools safe. This has helped prevent 318 incidents involving weapons at schools across the country, including multiple school shooting plots.
Beyond our proven programs, we also wrote and helped pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act – the most significant federal gun safety law in three decades. Experts believe the funding for gun violence prevention programs included in this law has directly contributed to mass killings dropping to a 20-year low in 2025, especially on school campuses.
Andy, this critical work wouldn’t be possible without the support of this community.
Looking to the new year ahead of us, there is no question that we still have a lot of work to do. Firearms remain the leading cause of death for children in our country, which means we cannot let up. That’s why, as you think about your New Year’s resolutions, I hope you’ll consider taking the next step in your commitment to preventing gun violence by volunteering as a Promise Leader in your community.
There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about my beautiful butterfly Dylan. But doing this work with you – saving lives thanks to your support – is what pushes me forward every day. I can’t thank you enough for all you do.
