The so-called "King of Mushrooms" isn't technically a mushroom.

Wait, what?

Let me explain.

Chaga isn't a mushroom in the classic sense. It's a sclerotium — a dense, hardened mass of fungal material that grows slowly on wild birch trees in some of the harshest climates on earth.

Deep forests. Long winters. Sub-zero temperatures.

It attaches to a living birch and, over many, many years, quietly draws nutrients from it. Vitamins. Minerals. Antioxidants. All absorbed, slowly, from the tree itself.

It doesn't grow fast.
It doesn't grow easily.
And it doesn't grow everywhere.

That slow, patient growth is exactly what makes it so special.

Now — if you're imagining some kind of forest vampire, think again.

Chaga is more like Robin Hood. Slowly gathering the good stuff from birch trees… and sharing it with you.

But here's the thing most brands won't tell you.

Not all chaga is the same.

Most of what's sold out there is lab-grown. Cultivated in controlled environments. Never touched a birch tree. Never survived a winter.

It's easier. Faster. Cheaper to produce.

But it misses the point entirely.

Wild chaga is special because of what it endures. The freezing temperatures, the slow growth, the years spent drawing nutrients from a living tree — that's what creates its remarkable nutrient density. Take that away, and you're left with something that looks like chaga but doesn't carry the same depth.

It's a bit like comparing a greenhouse tomato to one that ripened slowly in the summer sun. Same name. Very different thing.

The chaga you deserve.

We source our chaga from wild forests — both the ancient birchwoods of Lapland, Finland (for our chaga powder in our SuperLattes) and the Scottish Highlands (for our Chaga Tincture).

Harvesting wild chaga is hard. It takes time, care, and a genuine respect for the forests it comes from. That's why so many brands opt for the easier, lab-grown version.

But not us.

Because we believe that if something is worth putting in your body, it should be the real thing. No shortcuts. No compromises.

Why your body will thank you…

Wild chaga is traditionally valued for its adaptogenic properties, which support your body's ability to cope with everyday stress.

It's also one of the most antioxidant-rich natural substances known, and has been used for centuries to support the immune system and steady, natural energy.

Chaga is truly remarkable. And we're so glad we get to share it with you.

You'll find your daily dose of wild chaga in Moksha, Aurora, JavasuZencha and our Chaga Tincture.
