Football Takes Down No. 1 Texas, Hosts Grambling State Saturday |
Head coach Ryan Day and the Buckeyes opened the 2025 season with a statement, knocking off No. 1 Texas 14-7 at Ohio Stadium. Ohio State jumped out to a 14-0 lead behind sophomore quarterback Julian Sayin, who completed 13 of 20 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown in his first collegiate start. Junior wide receiver Carnell Tate hauled in a pair of catches for 49 yards and a touchdown, while senior running back CJ Donaldson Jr. opened the scoring for the Buckeyes and powered through the Longhorn defense for 67 yards on 19 carries.
On the other side of the ball, defensive coordinator Matt Patricia and the Silver Bullets kept the Longhorns in check, recording an interception and four fourth down stops including two inside their own 10-yard line. Up next, the No. 1 Buckeyes will host Grambling State (1-0) this Saturday inside Ohio Stadium for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff on BTN. |
