No. 14 Men's & No. 2 Women's Hockey Return Home for Weekend Series |
The men’s hockey team closed out last weekend’s road trip against No. 12 UConn with a 4-2 win in order to split the series and improve to 3-1 on the year. Max Montes, Jake Dunlap and Riley Thompson led the way for the Ohio State offense each finding the back of the net while James Hong sealed the victory with an empty net goal late in the third period. The Buckeyes return home to the Schottenstein Center this weekend for a non-conference series against Sacred Heart on Friday (6:30 p.m.) and Saturday (5 p.m.)
Meanwhile, the women’s hockey team traveled to Minnesota to take on the No. 3 Golden Gophers for a weekend series and handed Minnesota its first loss of the season. The Buckeyes opened the series with a 4-1 win in which the Scarlet and Gray outshot the Gophers 47-29. Goalie Hailey MacLeod had a career-high 28 saves, holding Minnesota scoreless for 54 minutes of play. Ohio State is back in action at the Ohio State Ice Rink this weekend as well for a Top 15 series against No. 11 St. Cloud State on Friday (6 p.m.) and Saturday (3 p.m.)
