Men's Basketball Opens Season with Record-Setting Win Over IU Indy

The men's basketball team opened the 2025-26 college basketball season on Monday night with a record-setting performance, defeating the IU Indy Jaguars by a score of 118-102. Using its size and fast-paced tempo, the Buckeyes went on to shoot 63% from the field, setting a program record for the most points in a season opener and the most points in a game at the Schottenstein Center. The Ohio State offense was led by Christoph Tilly who posted a career-high 26 points along with nine rebounds and three assists, while Bruce Thornton added 26 points, five rebounds and four assists of his own.

The Buckeyes will continue their six-game homestand to open the season on Friday when the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons visit the Schottenstein Center followed by Appalachian State on Tuesday. Tuesday's matchup against the Mountaineers will be the team's Our Honor Defend Military Appreciation game with veterans and active duty members of the military eligible to claim two (2) complimentary tickets through VetTix and receive a 20% off discount on concessions when showing their military badge or ID. Both matchups at the Schott are slated for 6:30 p.m. tipoffs.

No. 1 Football Cruises Past Penn State 38-14, Hits the Road to Purdue

Head coach Ryan Day and the No. 1 Buckeyes improved their record to 8-0 following Saturday's 38-14 win over Penn State. Julian Sayin recorded his fifth 300+ passing yard performance of the season, completing 20 of his 23 attempts for 316 yards and four touchdowns through the air. Carnell Tate led the Buckeye receiving corps with 124 yards and one score on five receptions while Jeremiah Smith pitched in another 123 yards and two scores on six receptions. On defense, the Silver Bullets recorded seven tackles-for-loss, four sacks and an interception, with Arvell Reese leading the defense with 12 total tackles.

This Saturday, the Scarlet and Gray will hit the road and head to West Lafayette, Ind., for a 1 p.m. kickoff against Purdue (2-7). Buckeye fans can tune into Big Ten Network for Saturday's game against the Boilermakers.
