No. 1 Football Hosts UCLA Saturday Under the Lights of The 'Shoe

The No. 1 Buckeyes improved to 9-0 on the season following last weekend's 34-10 road victory over Purdue in which Ohio State dominated the time of possession, holding the ball for nearly 41 minutes including six offensive drives of five minutes or more. Heisman hopeful Julian Sayin completed 27-of-33 passes for 303 yards and one touchdown, his third consecutive game of 300+ passing yards, while fellow Heisman contender Jeremiah Smith racked up a career-high 10 receptions for 137 yards and one score. On defense, coordinator Matt Patricia and the Silver Bullets held their opponent to double-digit rushing yards for the eighth consecutive game, limiting the Boilermakers to 94 yards.

This weekend, the Scarlet and Gray return home for a matchup against UCLA (3-6) under the lights of Ohio Stadium. Kickoff for the Buckeyes' Our Honor Defend Military Appreciation game against the Bruins is slated for 7:30 p.m. and will feature Buckeye basketball legend Jerry Lucas ringing the Victory Bell pregame.

Men's Basketball Improves to 3-0, Hosts Notre Dame Sunday at the Schott

The men's basketball team continued its winning ways last night defeating App State at the Schottenstein Center by a score of 75-53 for the Buckeyes' third consecutive home win to open the season. Fifth year forward Brandon Noel led the way for Ohio State with 17 points and 11 rebounds, recording his first double-double of the year. The Buckeyes closed out the first half on a 20-5 run including a Bruce Thornton buzzer-beating three-pointer and then followed it up by opening the second half on a 14-3 run. Thornton and John Mobley Jr. each added a double-digit point performance tallying 13 and 16 points, respectively.

The Buckeyes' homestand continues this Sunday when the Notre Dame Fighting Irish visit the Schott for Ohio State's Jerry Lucas Legacy Game which will feature the unveiling of a statue of the Buckeye Basketball legend outside the northwest entrance of the arena in addition to Lucas dotting the "I" of the incomparable Script Ohio at halftime.
