Football Selected as No. 2 Seed in College Football Playoff

Head coach Ryan Day and the No. 2 seed Ohio State Buckeyes will receive a first round bye in this year's College Football Playoff before heading south to Arlington, Texas for a quarterfinal matchup in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on Wednesday, Dec. 31. The Scarlet and Gray will await their opponent as they will take on the winner of a first round matchup on Saturday, Dec. 20 between No. 7 seed Texas A&M (11-1) and No. 10 seed Miami (10-2). The Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by ESPN.

This will be Ohio State's fifth appearance in the Cotton Bowl Classic with the most recent trip to AT&T Stadium being last year's CFP semifinals when the Buckeyes defeated the Texas Longhorns 28-14 to advance to the national championship game. No. 2 Wrestling Hosts Top 10 Dual Friday Night vs. No. 9 NC State

The No. 2 wrestling team opened its 2025-26 home slate in dominant fashion, defeating Kent State by a score of 44-0 followed by a 41-3 win over Bellarmine. Over two matches, the Buckeyes racked up 12 technical falls and a Jesse Mendez pin over Kent State's Ismael Ayoub just 1:18 into the first period. Head coach Tom Ryan and the Buckeyes now turn their attention to Friday night's Top 10 showdown at the Covelli Center against the No. 9 NC State Wolfpack at 7 p.m. 

Friday's match will feature four Top 10 bouts including No. 1 Jesse Mendez taking on NC State's No. 6 Ryan Jack (141 lbs.), No. 5 Carson Kharchla squaring off against the Wolfpack's No. 3 Matthew Singleton (174 lbs.) and a heavyweight battle between No. 3 Nick Feldman and NC State's No. 2 Isaac Trumble. All fans in attendance for Friday's marquee non-conference matchup are encouraged to WEAR BLACK!
