No. 2 Football Kicks Off CFP Run Tonight vs. Miami in Cotton Bowl

Head coach Ryan Day and the No. 2 seed Ohio State Buckeyes will open their 2025-26 College Football Playoff run tonight when the Scarlet and Gray take on the No. 10 seed Miami Hurricanes (11-2) in the 90th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Buckeyes and Hurricanes have only met on the gridiron four times throughout the years including one singular postseason meeting in the 2003 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl where head coach Jim Tressel led Ohio State to its seventh national title, defeating Miami 31-24.

Tonight's CFP quarterfinal matchup against the Hurricanes will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN with the winner set to advance to the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl on Thursday, Jan. 8 in Glendale, Ariz., to take on the winner of the Sugar Bowl featuring No. 3 seed Georgia and No. 6 seed Ole Miss.

Men's Hoops Dominates Grambling State, Hosts No. 13 Nebraska Monday

The men's basketball team closed out the calendar year with one of its most complete performances of the season, defeating Grambling State 89-63 at the Schottenstein Center. Five Buckeyes reached double figures including sophomore guard John Mobley Jr. who knocked down five three-pointers and recorded a team-high 20 points. Senior guard Bruce Thornton finished the game with 18 points and three assists while freshman forward Amare Bynum provided another well-rounded performance in his second career start, adding 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds.

Head coach Jake Diebler and the Buckeyes finished 2025 with a 9-3 record and will return to Big Ten play this weekend with a trip to the east coast to battle Rutgers (Friday, Jan. 2 at 8 p.m. on Peacock) before returning home to host undefeated and No. 13-ranked Nebraska on Monday, Jan. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
