The No. 12 women's basketball team earned another statement win on Monday afternoon, defeating No. 9 TCU 71-69 in the second annual Coretta Scott King Classic at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. The Buckeyes rallied from an early deficit and delivered down the stretch behind a sharp shooting performance by senior guard Chance Gray, who scored a team-high 22 points while going 6-of-8 from three-point range. Elsa Lemmilä added 17 points along with career highs in blocks (six) and assists (five), while Jaloni Cambridge added 18 points and eight assists of her own. Ohio State showed resilience throughout, taking its first lead in the third quarter and closing the game with timely baskets and defensive stops to secure its second top 10 victory of the season.
After improving to 17-2 overall and 7-1 in Big Ten play, the Scarlet and Gray will return to Columbus for a conference matchup against Indiana (11-8) tomorrow night at 8 p.m. at the Schottenstein Center.
