Buckeyes Beat Badgers Men's Basketball Tops No. 24 Wisconsin 86-69, Thornton Tops 2,000 Points |
Head coach Jake Diebler and the Ohio State men's basketball team closed out its February home schedule last night with a convincing 86-69 win over No. 24 Wisconsin. The Buckeyes built an early lead behind a bounce-back performance by junior forward Devin Royal, who erupted for 16 first-half points. A dominant second half by senior Bruce Thornton helped the Scarlet and Gray secure the win with the Buckeye guard finishing with 27 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. A driving layup with 3:34 remaining pushed Thornton past the 2,000-point mark for his career, moving him into third place on Ohio Stateβs all-time scoring list past Jerry Lucas and William Buford.
This weekend, the Buckeyes will hit the road to East Lansing for a Sunday matchup against No. 15 Michigan State. Sunday's road test against the Spartans is set for 1 p.m. at the Breslin Center and will be televised nationally on CBS. |
