Men's Basketball Tops No. 24 Wisconsin 86-69, Thornton Tops 2,000 Points

Head coach Jake Diebler and the Ohio State men's basketball team closed out its February home schedule last night with a convincing 86-69 win over No. 24 Wisconsin. The Buckeyes built an early lead behind a bounce-back performance by junior forward Devin Royal, who erupted for 16 first-half points. A dominant second half by senior Bruce Thornton helped the Scarlet and Gray secure the win with the Buckeye guard finishing with 27 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. A driving layup with 3:34 remaining pushed Thornton past the 2,000-point mark for his career, moving him into third place on Ohio State’s all-time scoring list past Jerry Lucas and William Buford.

This weekend, the Buckeyes will hit the road to East Lansing for a Sunday matchup against No. 15 Michigan State. Sunday's road test against the Spartans is set for 1 p.m. at the Breslin Center and will be televised nationally on CBS.

11 Buckeyes Set for Medal Games at 2026 Winter Olympics 

The Ohio State women's hockey team will be well represented on the international stage as the program stands as the only NCAA school with a representative on every team playing for a medal at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. Seven Buckeyes will take the ice in Thursday's gold medal game between the United States and Canada. Junior forward Joy Dunne is skating alongside her 2024 national championship teammates Cayla Barnes ('24) and Hannah Bilka ('24) on Team USA as they will face off against Ohio State alumnae Jenn Gardiner ('24), Sophie Jaques ('23), Emma Maltais ('23) and Natalie Spooner ('12). Puck drop for tomorrow's gold medal game is set for 1:10 p.m. ET on Peacock.

Meanwhile, tomorrow's bronze medal game will feature a trio of Swedish Buckeyes in Hilda Svensson, Jenna Raunio and Mira Jungaker playing against Switzerland's Andrea Braendli ('22). The bronze medal game is slated to begin at 8:40 a.m. ET on Peacock.
