The Ohio State women's hockey team was represented across the podium during last week's Olympic medal ceremony at Milano Santaguilia Ice Hockey Arena as eight current and former Buckeyes received medals at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. Junior forward Joy Dunne and Ohio State alumnae Cayla Barnes ('24) and Hannah Bilka ('24) captured gold with the United States in a 2-1 overtime win over Canada, with Jenn Gardiner ('24), Sophie Jaques ('23), Emma Maltais ('23) and Natalie Spooner ('12) taking silver. Winning bronze for the Buckeyes was Switzerland’s Andrea Braendli ('22) whose 32 saves helped the Swiss defeat Sweden and a trio of Buckeyes in another 2-1 overtime battle.
USA's Dunne, Finland's Vanhanen and Sweden's JungĂĄker, Svensson and Raunio will hang up their country's colors for Scarlet and Gray as the No. 2 Buckeyes open postseason play this weekend in the WCHA First Round. Ohio State will host St. Thomas in a best-of-three series at the Ohio State Ice Rink.
