Record Broken Thornton Breaks Scoring Record as Men's Hoops Rolls Past Indiana 91-78 |
The men's basketball team closed out the regular season in thrilling fashion as the Buckeyes dominated the Indiana Hoosiers on Senior Night by a score of 91-78. Bruce Thornton led the way for the Buckeyes with 25 points on 7-of-9 shooting while adding seven assists and three rebounds. A pair of 18 point performances by John Mobley Jr. and Amare Bynum helped the Scarlet and Gray jump out to an early lead that the Buckeyes held until the final buzzer. And, with a three-point basket late in the first half, Thornton secured career point No. 2,097 in order to surpass Dennis Hopson as the program's all-time leading scorer.
With the Buckeyes winning their final three home games of the season, the team was able to lock up the No. 8 seed and a double-bye heading into this week's 2026 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament. Ohio State will open its postseason action tomorrow against No. 9 Iowa at noon ET with the game being televised on Big Ten Network. |
