Frozen Four Bound! No. 1 Women's Hockey Advances to Sixth-Consecutive Frozen Four |
For the sixth consecutive season, head coach Nadine Muzerall and the No. 1 women's hockey team have punched their ticket to the NCAA Women's Frozen Four after a dominant 6-1 win over Yale in the Columbus Regional Final. After a back-and-forth first period, the Buckeyes took control with five unanswered goals to break the 1-1 tie and advance to the national semifinals. Forwards Jocelyn Amos (2 goals, 2 assists) and Sloane Matthews (2 goals, 1 assist) led Ohio State's offensive attack with multi-point performances. Between the pipes, goalie Hailey MacLeod picked up her 26th win of the season behind a 22 save performance.
With the win, the Scarlet and Gray will head to Pegula Ice Arena in University Park, Pa., where the Buckeyes will open the semifinal round on Friday against No. 5-seed Northeastern (29-8-1). Puck drop against the Huskies is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET with streaming available on ESPN+. The winner will advance to the National Championship game to face off against either No. 2-seed Wisconsin or No. 3-seed Penn State on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET.
