Men's Hockey to Host B1G Tournament Quarterfinals at Nationwide Arena

The No. 9 men's hockey team closed out the regular season last week with a rivalry series matchup against No. 11 Michigan in which the Buckeyes took game one in thrilling overtime fashion by a score of 2-1. Davis Burnside opened the scoring for the Buckeyes with a power play goal in the second period and William Smith sealed the victory with the game-winning goal just 1:22 into overtime. Ohio State's defense had a strong showing registering 11 blocked shots, a crucial 5x3 penalty kill and 26 saves by Logan Terness.

This weekend, the No. 3 seed Buckeyes will host the No. 6 Wisconsin Badgers in the Big Ten Men's Hockey Tournament quarterfinals at Nationwide Arena. The best-of-three series will get underway Friday night with all three puck drop times scheduled for 7 p.m. (game three if necessary). 

Women's Hockey Advances to WCHA Final Faceoff 

The No. 2 women's hockey team opened up postseason play over the weekend with a dominant sweep of St. Thomas to advance to the WCHA Final Faceoff in Duluth, Minn. The Buckeyes took game one of the series by a 5-1 margin behind Mira Jungåker's four point performance followed by a 4-1 victory on Saturday to close out the series. Goalie Amanda Thiele picked up both wins for Ohio State stopping 25 of St. Thomas' 27 shots throughout the series.

Men's Lacrosse Downs Bryant for Sixth Straight Win

The No. 15 men's lacrosse team closed out its February homestand with a gritty 7-5 victory over the Bryant Bulldogs to improve to 6-1 on the season. Despite a back-and-forth first half, Ohio State extended its lead with a three-goal burst early in the third quarter. Ryan Donnery and Alex Marinier recorded a pair of goals apiece while Garrett Haas contributed four assists. On defense, the Buckeyes forced 25 Bulldog turnovers while goalie Caleb Fyock recorded seven saves. 

Women's Lacrosse Remains Undefeated

The No. 21 women's lacrosse team continued its perfect start to the 2025 season posting a 15-5 win on the road at Robert Morris. Ohio State took full control on the game scoring the first eight goals of the second half and holding the Colonials scoreless for over 22 minutes. Leah Sax (4G/2A) led the way for Ohio State's offense with a six point game while Kate Tyack, Maddy Paz and Emily Magalotti each added two goals.

Men's & Women's Fencing Claim Conference Titles

The men's and women's fencing teams added to their trophy cases after a successful trip to the 2024 Central Collegiate Fencing Conference championships in Detroit. The men's team earned their fifth consecutive title, dominating all three weapon championships for the second year in a row while the women's team secured their fourth championship after a dramatic 14-13 win over Northwestern. This weekend, both teams will compete at the NCAA Midwest Regionals in Granville, Ohio.

Men's Tennis Dismantles No. 14 Michigan 5-0

The No. 3 men's tennis team picked up its 10th win of the season  defeating No. 14 Michigan 5-0 in a non-conference match. The Buckeyes took control after a tight doubles point with the Buckeye duo of Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin winning the deciding match in a tiebreaker. Ohio State’s singles play was equally strong, with each player securing a first-set win and cruising to victory. The Buckeyes now extend their winning streak over Michigan to eight matches dating back to 2022.

Women's Tennis Opens B1G Play with 2-0 Weekend

The No. 8 women's tennis team opened conference play over the weekend with a pair of 4-0 shutouts over Purdue and Indiana to improve to 8-1 on the season. Ohio State picked up the doubles point in each match while No. 72-ranked Audrey Spencer led the charge in singles picking up a point for the Buckeyes in each match defeating her opponents in two straight sets. Up next, women's tennis will hit the road for four matches before returning home at the end of March.

Baseball Wins High-Scoring Home Opener 

After a nine-game road trip to open 2025, the baseball team returned to Bill Davis Stadium yesterday for Opening Day where the Buckeyes took down St. John's by a 12-10 margin. Ohio State's high powered offense was on display as Marc Stephens recorded a pair of doubles and Lee Ellis blasted his fifth home run of the season. However, it was Trey Lipsey's single in the bottom of the eighth that drove in Sal Mineo to give the Buckeyes the 11-10 lead.

Softball Blanks No. 10 Georgia, Hosts Home Opener this Weekend

The softball team closed out its weekend at the Bulldog Classic with a dominant performance, shutting out the No. 10 Georgia Bulldogs 7-0 for its second ranked win of the season. The Buckeyes exploded for seven runs in the second inning highlighted by solo home runs from Jasmyn Burns and Hadley Parisien. A three-run double by Kaitlyn Farley and a two-RBI double from Burns extended Ohio State's lead. Freshman pitcher Lorin Boutte was stellar in the circle allowing just two hits while striking out five in a complete-game shutout.

The Buckeyes return home to Buckeye Field this weekend as they host the Ohio State Softball Invitational featuring No. 2 Texas, Kent State, Merrimack, Oakland and St. Francis.
