Head coach Ryan Day and the No. 1 Buckeyes improved its record to 8-0 on the season following yesterday's 38-14 rout of Penn State inside Ohio Stadium. Julian Sayin and the Ohio State passing attack was the main story of yesterday's win with Sayin completing 20 of his 23 attempts for 316 yards and four touchdowns. Carnell Tate led the Buckeye receiving corps with 124 yards on five receptions (1 TD) while Jeremiah Smith was not far behind with another 123 yards on six receptions (2 TD). The Buckeyes' ground game racked up an additional 164 yards which was highlighted by a 105-yard performance by Bo Jackson.
Despite allowing its first first-half points of the season, Arvell Reese and the rest of the Silver Bullets shut down the Nittany Lion's offense allowing zero points in the second half and limiting Penn State to just 55 rushing yards on the day. Reese led the way for the Scarlet and Gray with 12 tackles, 2.5 tackles-for-loss and a sack with the rest of the Buckeye defense tallying 4.5 tackles-for-loss, three sacks and an interception. Up next, the Buckeyes will head back on the road for a trip to West Lafayette, Ind. to take on the Purdue Boilermakers (2-7) for a 1 p.m. kick on BTN.
