No. 1 Ohio State returned from West Lafayette with a 34-10 victory over the Boilermakers and a 9-0 record on the season. The Buckeyes dominated the time of possession, holding the ball for nearly 41 minutes and recording six offensive drives of five minutes or more. Julian Sayin completed 27-of-33 passes for 303 yards and one touchdown, his third consecutive game of 300+ passing yards. Jeremiah Smith was Sayin's top target on the day, racking up a career-high 10 receptions for 137 yards and one score, while Bo Jackson paved the way for the Buckeyes' ground game with 75 yards on 14 carries.
For the eighth consecutive game, Matt Patricia and the Silver Bullets held their opponent to double-digit rushing yards with the Boilermakers limited to just 94 yards on the ground. Payton Pierce led Ohio State's defensive efforts with seven tackles with Jermaine Mathews Jr. adding a second quarter interception that led to the Scarlet and Gray's third touchdown of the game. Ryan Day and the Buckeyes will return home to The 'Shoe next Saturday for their Our Honor Defend Military Appreciation game against the UCLA Bruins (3-6). Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on NBC.
