The Best Thing About Being 10-0... No. 1 Buckeyes Blow Past Bruins, 48-10 |
No. 1 Ohio State improved its record to 10-0 on the season following yesterday's 48-10 throttling of UCLA under the lights of Ohio Stadium. The Buckeyes dominated the ground game, rushing for 222 yards which is the highest mark against a Big Ten opponent this season. Bo Jackson led the way for the Ohio State offense compiling a career-high 112 yards and a score on 15 carries while fellow running back James Peoples added an additional 42 yards and two trips to the end zone. Julian Sayin balanced out the Buckeyes' rushing attack with 184 passing yards including an 11-yard touchdown pass to Bryson Rogers.
Linebacker Sonny Styles kept the Bruins offense in check with seven tackles and a tackle-for-loss on the night, an effort that left UCLA scoreless in the first half of action. Sonny wasn't the only Styles making big plays yesterday as his brother Lorenzo caused The 'Shoe to erupt with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the third quarter, the first since Jordan Hall took it to the house against the Wolverines in 2010. Ryan Day and the Buckeyes will close out the regular season home schedule next Saturday when Rutgers (5-5) visits The 'Shoe. Kickoff against the Scarlet Knights is set for 12 p.m. ET on FOX.
