Ohio STATE No. 1 Buckeyes Pull Away from Bobcats, 37-9 |
Head coach Ryan Day and the Buckeyes picked up the in-state crown and their third consecutive win of the season defeating the Ohio Bobcats 37-9 last night under the lights of Ohio Stadium. Julian Sayin led the way for Ohio State's offense, completing 25-of-32 passes for 347 yards and three touchdowns through the air, connecting with eight different receivers. Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate set the tone for Zone 6 as the pair combined for 254 receiving yards, 25 rushing yards and three trips to the end zone. On the ground, Bo Jackson topped 100 yards on less than 10 carries for the second time this season finishing with 109 yards on nine carries with a long of 64.
For the third consecutive game, the Buckeye defense held their opponent to single digits and limited the Bobcat offense to 181 yards. Linebacker Arvell Reese was a force for the Silver Bullets, recording seven tackles and accounting for one of the Buckeyes' four sacks. The Scarlet and Gray improve to 3-0 on the season and will enjoy a bye week next week before opening Big Ten play on the road in Seattle against the Washington Huskies on Saturday, Sept. 27. Kickoff time and TV designation for Ohio State's week five matchup will be announced in the coming days.
