Jesse Mendez Claims Second National Title

For the second consecutive season, Jesse Mendez is the national champion at the 141 pound weight class! Mendez capped off his 5-0 championship run at the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia by defeating Nebraska's No. 1-seeded Brock Hardy by a 12-9 decision.

Mendez's Championship Run:

• No. 30 Briar Priest (PITT) | Technical Fall 21-5

• No. 14 Sergio Lemley (MICH) | Major Decision 11-2

• No. 6 Vance VomBaur (MINN) | Major Decision 17-5

• No. 2 Beau Bartlett (PSU) | Decision 2-1

• No. 1 Brock Hardy (NEB) | Decision 12-9

With the title, Jesse becomes the sixth wrestler in Ohio State history to win multiple national championships and the first Buckeye since Kyle Snyder at heavyweight in 2016-18.
