 | | Phils finalize five-year deal with Luzardo | The Phillies and left-handed pitcher Jesús Luzardo have agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension that begins in 2027 and runs through the 2031 season, with a club option for the 2032 season.
Luzardo, 28, is entering his second season with the Phillies after being acquired from the Miami Marlins via trade on Dec. 22, 2024. Last year, in his first season in Philadelphia, Luzardo went 15-7 with a 3.92 ERA (80 ER, 183.2 IP) over 32 starts. He faced 758 batters last season and limited them to a .240/.299/.356 slash line (.656 OPS).
Among all National League pitchers, Luzardo's career-high 216 strikeouts were tied for second-most and he ranked fourth in the NL with a 28.5% strikeout rate and his 7.5% walk rate ranked 13th.
