Hey mate,
Sam here.
I used to think the hardest part of cold plunging was the cold. It’s not. It’s the moment right before, when you’re standing there convincing yourself you can skip it.
Mondays are the worst for that.
You’re a bit off from the weekend, not fully in rhythm, and suddenly “I’ll start tomorrow” sounds like a solid plan. I had that exact conversation with myself more times than I can count.
I didn’t always love this routine. There were plenty of mornings I didn’t feel like getting in.
What changed was realising the plunge you almost skip is the only one that actually matters.
When it’s easy, anyone can do it. But when you don’t feel like it and you still show up, that’s what builds the habit.
At some point, I stopped relying on motivation and just made it non-negotiable. Three minutes, in and out. No overthinking.
That’s where the shift happens. Not from going harder, but from showing up consistently.
You don’t have to be perfect with this. You just have to keep going, especially on the days you don’t want to.
If you’ve been thinking about starting, stop waiting for the perfect moment.
It doesn’t come.
You just start.
