Princeton University leads in AI Innovation

University leaders and researchers continue to foster artificial intelligence innovation at Princeton.

The University announced it will lead a joint government industry effort to use AI to develop advanced semiconductors for wireless communication and remote sensing. Kaushik Sengupta, professor of electrical and computer engineering at Princeton, will direct the effort. His team will focus on automating the design of microchips for radio-frequency wireless communication, the technology that enables electronic devices to communicate with one another and with the physical world. Princeton and its founding partners the the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, Microsoft and CoreWeave named Liat Krawczyk the inaugural executive director of the NJ AI Hub. The hub brings together academia, government and industry to foster innovation in artificial intelligence in New Jersey. Learn more about the NJ AI Hub on princeton.edu.

Alumni, faculty, entrepreneurs and investors recently discussed innovations in AI and other tech fields at the first annual Princeton Innovation Conference at Reunions (pictured above). Panelists look forward to seeing innovation from the Princeton Lab for Artificial Intelligence, Princeton Quantum Initiative, the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment and other centers of interdisciplinary discovery on campus. Contribution to Housing Initiatives of Princeton supports rental assistance program

Housing Initiatives of Princeton helps neighbors find stability through programs aimed at addressing housing insecurity. In 2024, Princeton University committed to provide $300,000 over three years to support HIP's rental assistance program for residents and families facing housing insecurity in Princeton.

On International Day of Light at Princeton, photonics community celebrates bright future

On the International Day of Light, nearly 200 people involved in photonics and optics research and the region’s growing photonics industry, investors, innovators and others convened on the Princeton University campus for the first annual SPOTLIGHT Photonics Innovation Ecosystem Summit.

The May 16 conference on the Princeton campus was hosted by Princeton’s Office of Innovation and Advancing Photonics Technologies (APT). APT is a Princeton-led consortium with partners Rowan University, Rutgers University, and Nokia Bell Labs funded by the National Science Foundation to support and advance photonics in Delaware, New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania.

"The Most Formidable Weapon Against Errors: The Sid Lapidus ’59 Collection & the Age of Reason"

The Sid Lapidus ’59 Collection on Liberty and the American Revolution, given to Princeton University Library in 2021, documents the new conceptions of human liberty, political order, and scientific reasoning that emerged in the Anglo-American intellectual world between the 17th and 19th centuries. This new exhibition celebrates the collecting achievements of Sid Lapidus, who has devoted many years to the acquisition of rare books that trace the emergence of Enlightenment ideas and their influence on politics, medicine, and society, creating a powerful tool for understanding the ideas that have shaped modern American society.

Guided tours are scheduled for Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 7 at 1:00 PM. Tours meet in the lobby of Firestone Library. Tour are 45 minutes.

As a rule, scientific research is expensive and uncertain; it also is crucial if we are going to understand nature and implement that knowledge for humanity’s benefit. Every modern society has developed some form of “science system” to balance the resources for science with other social demands.

Princeton University Art Museum partners with the Arts Council of Princeton to provide free virtual painting classes, taught by artist-instructor Barbara DiLorenzo. With an emphasis on painting with watercolors, each week’s lesson in this series will be inspired by an object from the Museum’s collections that depicts a different point of view. 

This live art-making class is inspired by Manuel Carrillo’s photograph Mother and Child (1961). In this session, we will explore painting from a bird’s-eye view.
