Office of Community and Regional Affairs holds annual clothing drive

Princeton University faculty and staff filled more than 10 clothing racks with suits, pants, tops, dresses and more at the annual business attire clothing drive.

The drive supports workforce programs offered by community partners. This year's drive benefitted Dress for Success of Mercer County, HomeFront’s Suitably Dressed, Mercer County Community College’s Bridges to Success for Foster Youth, Princeton University’s Program in Teacher Preparation, NJ Rise, Salvation Army, Princeton Cornerstone Community Kitchen Free Store, Center for Modern Aging Princeton, and the Municipality of Princeton’s Summer Youth Employment Program.

The Office of Community and Regional Affairs also collected formal attire for Princeton High School's prom dress and tuxedo program, stuffed toys and pet supplies for Glad Dogs Nation, and used eyeglasses for Lions Club International.

From ROI NJ: Artificial turf: Princeton University AI Hub aims to position N.J. as sector leader

"Last April, Gov. Phil Murphy and Princeton  University President Chris Eisgruber announced plans to formally create a hub for AI activity and research on the Princeton campus.

Operated in conjunction with the N.J. Economic Development Authority, the hub will aim to leverage state funding and private-sector partnerships to advance the state’s leadership in AI innovation in AI technologies, drive job growth and economic development across the region, promote rapid and responsible development of the field and guide governments and public entities on AI implementation."

Gatsby at 100: The Author and His Creation Digital Exhibition

It may be hard to believe, but when “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald was first published in April 1925, it was not an immediate bestseller. It took another almost two decades⸺during World War II with the Armed Services edition⸺for the novel to find success and, ultimately, take its place among the “great American novels.”



To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the publication of “The Great Gatsby” this April, Princeton University Library is planning a suite of on- and off-campus programming inspired by the library’s significant Fitzgerald and “The Great Gatsby” related holdings.

The Thomanerchor: St. Thomas Choir of Leipzig

A not-to-be-missed performance by the celebrated Thomanerchor of Leipzig, Germany. The choir of boys boasts a nearly 800-year history of outstanding choral singing, including 27 years under the direction of Johann Sebastian Bach himself. This program is sponsored by Princeton University’s Office of Religious Life and the Department of Music.

Science on Saturday

Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory's Ronald E. Hatcher Science on Saturday Lecture series has been held for more than 40 years.

This annual series of lectures is given by scientists, engineers, and other professionals involved in cutting-edge research. Held on Saturday mornings throughout winter, the lectures are geared toward high school students. The program draws more than 300 students, teachers, parents, and community members. Topics are selected from a variety of disciplines.

On March 8, Bonnie Firestein of Rutgers University presents Schizophrenia - A Journey Beyond the Brain.

Seeing the Big Picture: An Experimental Film Series

This film screening series organized by Professor Christopher Harris features 16mm analog films by internationally celebrated experimental filmmakers working at the forefront of artists’ films in a variety of idiosyncratic forms, using handmade methods, and unconventional materials. Continues with guests Stephanie Barber on 3/3, Jennifer Reeves on 3/17, Rhayne Vermette on 3/31, Sara Sowell on 4/7, and on 4/14 Brittany Gravely of the Harvard Film Archive presents Learning to Be Human, a special program showcasing rare 16mm educational films from the late ‘60s and early ’70s on loan from the Archive. Presented in conjunction with Harris’ spring Film Seminar course. Each screening is followed by a conversation with the artist moderated by the students in the class.

Meet the Music: Inspector Pulse Takes His Pulse!

Princeton University Concerts welcomes back The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center for another family program — “Meet the Music: Inspector Pulse Takes His Pulse!”, curated for kids ages 6-12. Part of PUC’s All in the Family series. 

Composer Bruce Adolphe will host the event as Inspector Pulse, the world’s greatest and only private ear, exploring stethoscopes and metronomes as well as a marimba, and concepts like tempo, beat, and polyrhythm. The interactive program seeks to spark a lifelong love of music that will begin the moment that a child “meets the music” in person within the beautiful setting of Richardson Auditorium.

Spring into Science

Hosted by Science Outreach at Princeton University

Spring Into Science is a hands-on engaging science opportunity for students in grades 4^th through 10^th grades (and their parents) to learn, explore and get excited about science. Students will visit tabletop activities, experience hands-on demonstrations, listen to research talks, and engage scientists from many other science departments and programs on campus and beyond. All students must be accompanied by a guardian or adult at all times. 

Registration required. Register on scienceoutreach.princeton.edu by March 21 (or when the event reaches capacity). Parents who officially registered your student(s) will receive a detailed email the week of March 31.
