West Virginia Rail-Trail Just Doubled in Length

With 9 new miles open to the public, the Meadow River Rail Trail in West Virginia is now 18 miles long! Following the scenic Meadow River between Nallen and Rainelle, this rail-trail winds through the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. Highlights include two trestle bridges with stunning river views, dense deciduous forests and mountainous landscapes.

RTC has been recognizing exemplary multiuse trails around the country through its Hall of Fame since 2007. We’re asking everyone to help us choose the 2026 Hall of Fame trail by participating in a public vote later this summer.
