Hi Frond!
Every year holds a quiet, archetypal logic, its own emotional weather system. If 2024 and 2025 belonged to the Year of the Wood Snake, it makes sense that so many of us found ourselves deep in the underworld of our own lives: shedding skins we outgrew, drawing boundaries, moving through transitions that felt invisible from the outside but tectonic on the inside.
Snakes teach us that transformation is not an aesthetic, but a biological imperative. A snake does not negotiate with its old skin; it releases it because staying inside would become suffocation.
This past year, I felt that viscerally. The shedding wasn’t glamorous. It was quiet, lonely, sometimes defiant. It required discernment, boundaries, and saying no to things and people I once loved.
And now, cosmically and poetically, we enter something entirely different:
2026: The Year of the Fire Horse.
Where the Snake is inward, the Horse is outward. The Horse symbolizes momentum, vitality, and the courage to act on the truths we uncovered in our shedding. But Horse energy isn’t about chaotic motion. Horses only run far when they’re nourished, grounded, and strong. Their movement comes from stability, not strain.
This feels like the invitation of 2026: Move, but from a deeply rooted place. Act, but from alignment. Expand, but with intention. It’s a year to let the work you’ve done on the inside finally express itself on the outside.

As life speeds up, I want my foundation to slow down. A few things I’m choosing for myself:
- Holding my mornings sacred. A quiet ritual with coffee + my Daily Bite before the rest of the day asks anything of me.
- Surfing regularly. The ocean regulates something in me that nothing else can.
- More whimsy. Not as an afterthought, but as nourishment, medicine, and joy. I wrote about it here.

Movement isn’t just personal—it’s collective.
Rootless is entering its own Horse year, too:
- Expanding our distribution channels so more women can access nourishment easily.
- Growing community and Hopecore, because shared stories create shared strength
- Learning directly from the source—deepening our relationship with seaweed, the most regenerative teacher we have.
- We have an exciting clinical trial underway, the results of which will be revealed soon.
- Our north star remains the same:
Daily nourishment as the foundation for expansive living.
Not a pill, not a powder—just a grounded ritual that supports you through every stride.

May we shed what constricts. May we nourish what matters. May we move with clarity, vitality, and courage. And may this be the year we step into our stride. With love,
