Andy,
450,000 is a big number. It’s the attendance at the Minnesota State Fair on its final weekend. Unfortunately, it’s also the number of Minnesotans who will be impacted by recent devastating cuts and changes to SNAP benefits.

This is a critical situation, Andy, but we’re not deterred. In Minnesota, we know how to come together as a community. As we prepare for The Great Minnesota Get-Together, we’re getting together to support our neighbors impacted by these cuts and, like the Fair, we’re going BIG: we need to raise $150,000 to help get nutritious food to our neighbors now.
Come together with your Minnesota community with a gift today, and your support will multiply 6x in impact! By carefully stewarding food, volunteer time, and donations through efficient operations, for every $1 donated, Second Harvest Heartland can distribute $6 worth of food and grocery products.
Food is something that draws so many of us together, at the fair—and at our food bank. One way you can make a difference for your neighbors facing hunger? Making a gift in honor of one of your fair favorites:
🥛 Milk: The All-You-Can-Drink Milk Stand is one of the most popular at the Fair, and milk is one of the most requested items at Second Harvest Heartland. We help our partner food shelves distribute around 70,000 gallons per month. Make a gift to help provide milk and other staples.
🥔 Potatoes: French fry stands at the Fair serve around 400,000 pounds of potatoes each year. Potatoes are a staple at Second Harvest Heartland food shelves, too—we provide 400,000 pounds of potatoes every single month. Make a gift to help provide potatoes and other fresh produce.
🍗 Meat and other protein: At the State Fair, you can find everything from pork chops, to bison, to alligator, usually on a stick! And while you won’t find as many foods on a stick at our partner food shelves, our neighbors can pick up proteins like fresh eggs and meat. Chicken is especially popular with families, and with donor support, we provide around 200,000 pounds of chicken a month! Make a gift now to help provide nourishing proteins for your neighbors.
Andy, your gift in any amount today will help reach the $150,000 goal and get nutritious food to local families who need it most. Every $1 donated multiplies in impact to help deliver $6 worth of food like fresh produce, protein, and other grocery products.
When we come together as a community, we can make all the difference. Thanks for your commitment to hunger-relief and helping ensure every neighbor has access to the nourishing food they need to thrive.
