Thanks to the support of our community, Second Harvest of Silicon Valley's new energy-efficient facility is beginning to take shape, and in about a year, we'll be opening the doors to our new home.
The steel is up, the roof is on, and insulated panels are starting to enclose the warehouse, creating the temperature-controlled space needed to process and distribute fresh, nutritious food day in and day out.
Inside, crews are beginning to frame key spaces, including our volunteer orientation area, community room, and the freezer, refrigerator and dry food storage sections of the warehouse.
When completed, our new facility will significantly expand our capacity to rescue, store and distribute nutritious food, helping us serve more neighbors across Silicon Valley.
If you'd like to make a gift toward our new home, your impact will be tripled through June 30 thanks to a $5 million commitment from Reid Hoffman, philanthropist and co-founder of LinkedIn.
