Greetings SMD Community,

It’s a rare rainy day here at our headquarters in Beaverton. A quiet break from the long stretch of dry, sunny weather that makes you realize how fast the seasons are starting to turn. I just got back from a quick trip to New York last week, where it was hot, humid, and sticky in that way only East Coast summers can be. Coming home to crisp mornings and the smell of rain on dry dirt reminded me why I love Oregon weather, even the gray days.

Back inside, we’re deep in prep mode for one of our favorite events of the year: Pacific Crest Trail Days. The team’s been busy packing up gear, fine tuning tents, and getting a few fun surprises ready for those of you joining us in Cascade Locks next week. More about the event below!

My husband and I usually shy away from National Parks because of our beloved dog, but this week was special—it was our anniversary! We decided to board the dog for a little adventure and, to our delight, snagged overnight permits at several stunning campsites along the Hoh River Trail just three weeks in advance..."
