Did you know that St. Patrick's Day is a celebration for the patron saint of Ireland, who was born in the fourth century AD while Britain was still under Roman rule? People began celebrating St. Patrick's Day around the ninth and tenth century, on the 17th of March which is believed to be Saint Patrick's death date.
Records tell us that the first St. Patrick's Day parade was actually held here in America, on March 17, 1601 in a Spanish colony in what is now St. Augustine, Florida. This holiday is now celebrated in more countries than any other national holiday.
