Dear Mumma,
I want to share a few honest words to support you in your motherhood journey.
I’ve breastfed twins and later my little boy, two very different experiences, both filled with challenges and joy. What I’ve learned is this: take the pressure off. There’s no one “right” way to feed your baby, this is your journey.
With my twins, I didn’t start breastfeeding until six weeks in, after a tough period of pumping. I only lasted 8 weeks, and that was okay. Years later, with my son, I knew breastfeeding mattered to me, so I prepared, stayed open, and got support. Working with a lactation consultant made a big difference and reminded me I wasn’t alone.
If breastfeeding is important to you, consider preparing before birth, learn what to expect, talk to your partner, and reach out for support early.
Most of all, be kind to yourself. You don’t need to do it perfectly, just in the way that feels right for you and your baby.
