Have you ever wondered why sometimes the product looks a little different than the picture? That's because our supplier accidentally sent us the wrong jars... it's still the same size but Redbloom will have a skinny summer bod for a while.
What a time to be alive? The economy is at a state where people are financing their Redblooms. Every physical product company is completely F'ed by tariffs. While it's hard to predict who benefits from tariffs, but the buyer pays the tariff. Whoever gets F'ed after depends on history. And often times, these tariffs stay and can remain forgotten about for decades.
Do you know why the U.S. is so good at making trucks? Bc we tariffed the crap out of Toyota's Tundra. And then they started manufacturing in the U.S. and eventually dominated the U.S. market. But this took decades, and a lot of tears and greens were shed in between.
There are also random tariffs that still exist - the U.S. doesn't import washing machines from Germany, and Germany doesn't import chickens from the U.S. - bc we tariffed 300-400 percent on the washing machines and they tariffed the same on chicken in retaliation.
For many ingredients, the environment and soil in the U.S. aren't the same to breed the same ethnic flavors we love. Most chili oil brands don't use peppercorn because it's ridiculously expensive and hard to source. The numbing sichuan peppercorn are native to specific mountains with a finite harvest, that have been cultivated for 5,000 years. It can't be grown in the U.S. and still have the numbness. Our imported peppercorns have been detained by U.S. customs for 4 months and counting.. I hope I'm grandfathered into the old tariff.
I don't know what the future holds, but Redbloom will probably taste different if the ingredients are sourced domestically. Would you guys be okay with that? Let me know!
